"Fog of War" Objective Cards in a Tournament?

Post by NDNG_Iron_Tom » Sun Jan 21, 2018 8:56 am

I like the random objectives Objective Cards, but have only played with them twice. I think we don’t use them more often because they never get used in tournaments.

Is there a way we could possibly employ these in a tournament setting to create a more unique experience? I know they could not be used as is, but wonder with some simple modifications of the my could be?

EDIT: I originally had Objective Cards confused with Mission Cards. Corrected here.

I'll be interested to hear your thoughts. I really liked them when I used them.

Some key things I'd want to do when including these in an event is:
1) Make sure all know that's what we are doing!
2) Remove some cards that may not work well in aa tournament (not sure which ones just yet)
3) As the TO draw the Cards for each side and have all tables play the same objective cards. I think I'd draw just three for each side and let that side players know secretly what their objectives are/.
4) I'd probably want to have a PC and printer hand to print out Objective sheets for each player when they are determined for a round
5) Or maybe I'd just require players to bring card decks?

The cards include the following. What problems would we have employing them in a multi-table event?
Set Up Forward HQ
Precise Attack 1pt
Precise Attack 1-2pts
Knock Out Command Structure
Line in the Sand
Draw Them Out
Spread Disorder
Scout Town/Forrest
Scout The Perimeter
Hidden Intelligence
Dual Objectives
Secure Objective
Secure Minor Objective
Secure Major Objective
Dual Objectives

In NDNG's first overseas article, Benny gives a great account of using the Fog of War objective cards in a great AAR:

I really like these. I'm still trying to figure out how to employ them in a tournament without requiring everybody to buy and show up with a deck.

I just pick up a set of card. Quickly looking over them, first thing come to mind is to use them as a tie break.
